Fiat 2100

The Italian car manufacturer, Fiat, produced the Fiat 2100, The Fiat 2100 is among the group of car models than went in production from 1959 up to 1968. The other cars in the same batch include the Fiat 1500L and the Fiat 1800. Fiat created two body styles for the 2100. These are the smaller four-door sedan and the larger five-door station wagon. The layouts, however, are the same, with both having the FR type of layout. All throughout the duration of the Fiat 2100’s production, three different engines were fitted into the car. Two of these engines fall under the straight-6 category, and one falls under the straight-4 category. The sole straight-4 category was a 1481 cc engine. This engine was later fitted to the new released models of the Fiat 2100. Specifically, the engine was used first in 1963 until the closure of production of the Fiat 2100 in 1968. The other two engines, on the other hand, had been fitted unto the Fiat 2100 from the start until the end. One of these engines is the less powerful 1795 cc straight-6 engine while the other is the 2054 cc straight-6, the more powerful version among the two. During the 50s up to the 60s, Fiat has been manufacturing multiple models of cars simultaneously. While the 2100 model was in production, a few other models were also actively manufactured and released to the public. Knowing this fact, it still shows how influential the 2100 model was — both to its manufacturers and to the buying public when used Fiat created a special edition of the Fiat 2100. This special edition of the Fiat 2100 model was aptly called the Fiat 2100 Speciale. There were a handful of changes made on this edition compared to the original. The longer body is among the more obvious changes made. The wheelbase was extended and the grille at the front was redesigned. The change in physical dimensions and design of the 2100 implied a very obvious insight. It was clear that Fiat felt a transition was needed and that a mere change or upgrade of a car model would not suffice. In less than a year after the last of the Fiat 2100s were manufactured, Fiat decided to close the model and went on to release a brand new car, which they later on called as the Fiat 2300. This is the same car model that replaced the Fiat 2100.
