Used Mercedes Benz CL600

Mercedes Benz CL600

The Mercedes Benz CL600 is a giant – a silent giant. Weighing in at more than 2000 kilograms and having a 5.5-liter twin turbo 12-cylinder engine, this car is supposed to make a lot of noise when it goes down the road. Surprisingly, it does not. In fact, being overtaken by one of these silent giants is like watching a silver flag waving down to road ahead of you. It almost makes no sound, save for the sound of the vibrating engine. Unless you stick your ears on the hood, you will never hear this car coming. Thankfully, it has a pretty loud horn. Having an acceleration speed of 0 to 60 miles per hour in a mere 4.5 seconds, and having a weight of more than 2 tons, it really makes you wonder how much power this behemoth pushes out of its hood. It registers an engine power 517bhp, at 5000rpm. Its torque measurements come in at 612 lb ft at 3500rpm. Not bad for a 2 ton hunk of expensive metal. With a price tag of around £107,097, this is one expensive toy to have around. Although this would be peanuts for those in high society, throwing away a hundred thousand pounds is not exactly a good way to be noticed by the A crowd. Unfortunately, despite the great looks and sleek styling, the CL600 does not give the most comfortable riding experience. Sure, it has air suspension systems. Although it is far better from the usual construction of suspension made up of coils and springs, this does not seem to work well in the used Mercedes 600. In theory, design engineers guaranteed a soft-as-a-baby’s-bottom ride; but in reality, it was like riding a horse on roller skates – really fast, beautiful, and shiny roller skates. Maybe it was the weight. Maybe it was the engine power. Or maybe it was gravity. We just may never know. The CL600 features most of the usual Mercedes Benz merchandise: exquisite upholstery, top of the line electronics, GPS receiver, DVD player, LCD displays, and deafening sound systems. It does not hurt also to mention its safety features. The CL600 has dual airbags in the driver’s side and one on the passenger’s side. Side airbags are also present in the rear passenger’s cabin. With anti lock braking systems and anti skid tires, this car is indeed a very expensive way to keep safe on the road. But with hundreds of thousands of pounds in your wallet, who is complaining?
